The Health of Harford County – 2018 Local Health Improvement Coalition Meeting
(Originally presented at the 2018 Local Health Improvement Coalition Meeting). Did you ever wonder what the most pressing health issues are in Harford County? Well, every year, each county in Maryland holds an annual meeting where the Health Officer presents this information. These stats, along with input from members of the Local Health Improvement Coalition, determine what health issues the Health Department will focus on for the next year. In the past those issues were tobacco, obesity and behavioral health (mental health and addiction/substance abuse). Moving forward those topics have switched to Family Resiliency (drug exposed newborns), Chronic Disease and Wellness (health literacy, breast feeding and tobacco), and Behavioral Health (mental health and addiction/substance abuse).
