FITNESS

With our 24 hour 7 days a week lives, all of us are pretty busy. Unfortunately, much of that busy involves a lot of sitting: sitting at a desk, sitting in front of a computer, sitting in a car, train, or bus. Our bodies were designed to move and all that sitting isn’t doing us any good. There are so many benefits to becoming more physically active - less illness, increased strength, improved sleep and a better looking and better feeling body, it's worth making the effort to get moving. The good news is that it doesn’t take much. Depending on age, all it takes is 30-60 minutes of moderate activity at least 3 days per week.
What is moderate activity?
Moderate activity is any kind of activity that noticeably increases heart rate, and can be anything from structured exercises like jogging or swimming, to simple daily tasks such as walking up and down stairs or raking leaves. While all activity counts, in order for the heart to get the most benefit, moderate activity should be done in no less than 10 minutes time blocks. For example take one 30 minute brisk walk, or break it down to three 10 minute brisk walks. It’s all good!
